Increasing the price of tobacco products protects the health of youth as well as a variety of communities at risk, including smokers from low socioeconomic groups, people of color, people living with a mental illness and a dual diagnosis, and heavily addicted/long-term smokers (Bader, Boisclair, and Ferrence, 2011).
