Orientation:

The purpose of the orientation session is to introduce the program, and the class structure, let the participants know what to expect, and set an overall positive tone for the series.

Class 1: Getting Started:

The goal of Class 1 is to set a positive tone, and lay the foundation for subsequent sessions. The class will build on participants’ motivation to change their smoking and increase awareness of their personal smoking habits.

This session will cover:

  • How smoking becomes a habit
  • Motivation to become a non-smoker
  • Pack tracking and preparing to quit

The goal of Class 2 is to increase the participants’ awareness of their smoking habits and build their confidence in quitting.

Class 4: Success Over Stress:

The goal of Class 4 is to affirm the act and process of becoming tobacco-free and staying with the program; To promote an ongoing plan of action; To review the benefits of stopping smoking and discuss stress, emotions and the grieving process.

  • Stress and emotions
  • The Grief Process – letting go of tobacco
